EXPERIENCE

10 years of publishing and governing content for complex, high-traffic web properties

I'm JoAnn (Jojo) Nickolin, a digital content manager based in New York. I've managed web content for global brands with dozens of regional sites, in-house teams, and agency portfolios, and today through my own consultancy, Nickolin Digital.

My job sits between the people who ask for content and the people who build the platform. I turn requests from communications, marketing, and business teams into clear requirements, keep designers and developers moving, and make sure everyone knows what's happening and when. I started my career writing citation-backed investigative reports, and I still work that way: every detail checked, every decision documented.

How I work

Stakeholder communication & coordination

I'm the steady point of contact on complex projects. I've been the main intake point for content requests from multiple business and marketing teams, set priorities across competing deadlines, and advised stakeholders on what works on the web. I've presented weekly status updates to executives, including a CTO and a division president. I've also coordinated engineers, designers, content strategists, and non-technical stakeholders across ten enterprise brands.

Enterprise web publishing & governance

I build, format, and publish pages in enterprise CMS platforms, including Adobe Experience Manager, Contentful, and ContentStack. I structure each page's hierarchy, links, imagery, and calls to action to brand and publishing standards, and I validate every release with copy edits, link checks, and cross-browser testing. I've set up the review and approval workflows, SOPs, and training that keep publishing consistent across teams.

Content modeling & taxonomy

I design content systems that scale. I've defined templates, reusable components, metadata, and taxonomy for a global company's CMS, and built the localization workflows that brought 25 separately managed regional websites into one publishing operation.

Accessibility, QA, & release management

I review pages for accuracy, accessibility, and user experience before they go live. I catch WCAG issues such as missing alt text, heading structure, color contrast, and focus indicators, as well as responsive and rendering failures. I partner with designers and developers to fix them and document clear reproduction steps in Jira.
